Silicone tape is intended for areas of a prop where metal components are positioned close to the wick or flame. Adding a layer of silicone creates a barrier between the heated surface and your hands, making the prop more comfortable and safer to handle.
The tape doesn't require glue or additional fastening. Once wrapped and stretched around itself, it bonds into a continuous layer that stays in place during use.
When installing it, avoid excessive tension. Keeping the material close to its original width and thickness will give you better long-term results.

Useful Information
Silicone handles heat well, but, like any material exposed to an open flame, it has its limits. The tape performs best when the prop remains in motion, allowing heat to spread and dissipate. Prolonged exposure to a stationary flame can cause the silicone to deteriorate much faster. With sensible use and proper application, a single installation can remain usable for a long time.
The tape works best on rigid surfaces. It is not recommended for flexible constructions such as ropes, where movement and bending can significantly reduce its service life.
Do not soak the silicone tape in paraffin. Paraffin can remain on the surface of the silicone and may cause it to burn differently than intended. The tape is designed to protect the prop during normal use, not to be used as a fuel carrier.
A 3 m roll is typically enough for one staff or two shorter staffs, depending, of course, on the amount of metal you want to cover.
